With a quirky canvas and steady hand, Anastassia Elias creates fantastic scenes inside empty toilet paper rolls. For the past few months Paige Smith of A Common Name has been installing colorful geodes within the gaps of crumbling buildings and other public infrastructure on the streets of L.A. Each piece is site-specific and made from carefully cut and painted paper. I think it would be pretty awesome to stumble onto one of these in the wild without knowing anything about it. Last night me and a couple of my course mates Chris Wilson and Ste Rice went to Blackpool promenade to take some photographs for Chris's current project. While we were there we came across the new 'comedy carpet' that was unveiled on the 10th October by Ken Dodd. Created by artist Gordon Young. Around 1,000 comidians from over the past 100 years are featured including the likes of Les Dawson, Frankie Howerd, Tommy Cooper, Peter Kay and Morecambe and Wise Located right in front of the Blackpool Tower and apparently some of the text/quotes can be read from up there! It was lovely and included some absolutely beautiful pieces of typography! Apologies for the quality of the images... it was dark by the time we got there! :( |
